Silky Bush Pea
The Silky Bush Pea, Pultenaea Prostrata, is common in Victoria and South Australia but is currently listed as "vulnerable" in Tasmania.
A small patch has been identified at Launceston Airport. To protect the patch, it has been marked out with exclusion posts, and we are continually monitoring its health and eradicating blackberry weeds around the patch.
Green & Gold Frog
Launceston Airport is adapting our operations to preserve habitat at Launceston Airport for the Green & Gold Frog (Litoria raniformis) which is a threatened species and is listed as Vulnerable under both the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC) and the Tasmanian Threatened Species Protection Act 1995.
Save the Tasmanian Devil
Launceston Airport and our visitors have raised over $20,000 through donations for the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal.
The Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal’s primary goal is to raise funds to support the urgent research and conservation needs of the endangered Tasmanian devil.
Coordinated by the University of Tasmania, 100% of the funds raised by the Appeal go to research and management activities that have been prioritised as important to the long-term solution to devil facial tumour disease.
