Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

24.10.25

Travelling through an airport can be overwhelming — especially if you or someone you're with has a disability that isn't immediately visible. At Launceston Airport, we’re committed to making every journey easier and more inclusive.

What is the Hidden Disability Sunflower?

Many disabilities aren’t visible, and some travellers may need a little extra support or understanding. Hidden Disabilities can include autism, anxiety, dementia, mental health conditions, visual impairments, deaf or hard of hearing.

Our Hidden Disability Sunflower offers discreet assistance for those who need it.

How does it work

Travellers can choose to wear a Sunflower Lanyard — a globally recognised symbol that quietly signals to airport staff that the wearer may need additional help, time, or understanding during their journey.

All staff are trained to recognise the lanyard and offer thoughtful, respectful support. Whether it’s helping you through security, finding your gate, or just giving you a bit more time, we’re here to help.

How to get a lanyard

Sunflower lanyards are free and available before you travel or on the day of your flight.
