With many vehicles coming and going from Launceston Airport each week, making sure traffic flows safely and smoothly is one of our top priorities.
To help keep everything running efficiently, we do enforce parking rules, especially in designated drop-off and pick-up zones. If these rules are ignored, a parking infringement notice (fine) may be issued.
Important Changes to Penalty Notices
As of 28th December 2012, the Federal Government increased the value of penalty point units for parking infringements. These notices are issued under the Commonwealth Airports Act 1996 and follow the Australian Road Rules.
Revenue collected from these fines is passed on to the Commonwealth Government.
Who Issues the Notices?
Parking infringement notices are issued by Australia Pacific Airports Launceston (APAL) – the team that manages and operates Launceston Airport. Notices are issued in line with the Airports (Control of On-Airport Activities) Regulations 1997.
What to Do if You Receive a Parking Fine
Please don’t ignore a parking infringement notice.
You have 28 days from the date of issue to do one of the following:
- Pay the fine by mail in person or over the phone (credit card only). Do not give payment to the Officer who issued the notice.
- Submit a statutory declaration if someone else was driving
- Lodge an appeal if you believe the notice was issued in error
If you take no action within 28 days, legal proceedings may begin through the Magistrates Court.
